In the space of a decade, Sujay and his brothers created Kii Naturals (since acquired), Smile Natural Foods, Shashi Foods, Bettayum, Jay Capital Management and Clarius, a portfolio of companies managed under Shah Canada Group of Companies.
Under Sujay’s leadership, Shah Canada has been recognized as one of Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies. He was also awarded a Fellowship by the Richard Ivey Business School’s QuantumShift Program.
Entrepreneurial at his core, Sujay is driven by the challenge of motivating people, growing innovative brands and building dynamic and enduring corporate cultures. He provides mentorship to young entrepreneurs and speaks at various business school events.
His philanthropic involvement is heavily centered in East Africa, where he and his family continue to support causes ranging from wildlife preservation and natural resources protection to enhancing children’s education.
Sujay finds balance through various passions, including cooking, music and the martial arts, in which he holds black belts in Taekwondo and in traditional Japanese Karate.
VP of Business Development
Rajay oversees the complex commodities trading strategy that Shah Canada deploys through its portfolio of specialty food brands. With over a decade of professional experience, Rajay and his team are responsible for sourcing high-quality global food commodities from over 40 countries and supplying them to customers in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and South America.
Rajay graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Western Ontario, where he first developed his knack for accurately calling the global commodities markets.
Rajay is a sports enthusiast, and holds a black belt in Taekwondo and enjoys spending time with his family.
Chief Financial Officer
Umesh oversees the financial works of Shah Canada Group of Companies. A Certified Chartered Professional Accountant in both Canada and the United States, he has been with Shah Canada since the business’ inception in 2006.
One of the company’s loyal and most trusted employees, Umesh first joined the team as an accounts receivable clerk, subsequently working his way up to his current role.
Prior to joining Shah Canada, Umesh spent a decade at Premier Group of Companies in Nairobi, Kenya, gaining valuable finance and accounting expertise in manufacturing industries such as textiles, animal feed and flour milling.
Outside of work, Umesh enjoys spending time with his family and watching cricket.
A part of the Shah family for over 25 years, Mulu plays an integral role in managing the rollout and establishment of the company’s cutting-edge factories.
Technically-minded and a natural problem solver, Mulu works to ensure that all company facilities are equipped with the best available technologies and processes that maximize efficiencies and volumetrics.
In his spare time, Mulu rides the emotional roller coaster of being a devoted Toronto Maple Leafs fan.
Kelly Nguyen currently serves as the executive assistant to the CEO at Shah Canada. Kelly has a flair for organization that ensures every branch of the office runs smoothly. She’s the perfect blend of zen and excitement—calmly dealing with issues in a professional manner while inspiring her team members to constantly improve. She’s an exceptionally talented team player who brings her bespoke brand of awesome to everything she does.
